This tour brings you through our entire process taking a 1959 home and creating something fully stellar with all the latest upgrades.

With my experience as an investor, fliping 20+ homes myself, many times clients wish to use me as their realtor purely for my construction experience, knowledge, and market insights before they purchase a property. Sometimes they want me to assist them in the entire process. This was the case with this quaint property. My clients decided to buy a 1959 home in south Scottsdale AZ near Old Town. The elderly couple we bought the home from had lived in it since it was brand new, 65 years! The previous owner was even mowing the yard himself until he was 96 years old. The home was kind of a time capsule stuck in time. Yes a few things had been changed like wallpaper and some laminate flooring, but the main house was mostly untouched. Here’s a few pictures of the before condition.

We had a vision for this place, and one thing unique to this neighborhood in Scottsdale Estates, which is right on the edge of Old Town Scottsdale, is it is pretty common for couples to have stayed put all these years. So we were ecstatic to get an untouched home and redesign the whole thing. We decided to add a full 800 square feet to the home, we’d take the existing carport and we’d get rid of the storage room, create a new Primary Suite, Primary Bath and Walk in closet. Then we would convert part of the patio into a separate Laundry Room so that it was no longer stacked next to the refrigerator in the kitchen. We also added a two car garage in front of the old carport area and kept the house board and batten so that it kept more in line with the Mid Century feel of the neighborhood. Here’s a shot of the old layout and the new improved floorplan.

Updated 800 SqFt Addition w/ 2 car garage

We fully dove into the project, we removed the wall between the kitchen and the living room. We vaulted the ceiling to make it feel modern and spacious, we redesigned the kitchen by adding a nice quartz island with gorgeous cabinets, a new sink, dishwasher and drawer microwave. We reconfigured the cabinetry layout, redesigned the original master bath to flip the shower around and maximize space. The original hall bath was redesigned as well with a fresh clean look. Next up was the addition side of the home. Rough plumbing, trenching for footers, and a monolithic pour over concrete slab to expand and bring all the reality to fruition. We framed up the walls, ran the electrical, pluming and drywall for all the new rooms. We intentionally put in a separate mini split AC unit so the Primary Suite could have its own control of their air temperatures. We put in a massive wet area (15’ X 6’) where the two head rain shower heads, wands and freestanding tub would now be placed. There were two custom, floating, European style double vanities installed, one with sinks and one for a beauty station / makeup vanity.

Anchored just one mile from Old Town Scottsdale and within walking distance to Chaparral Park, this fully transformed corner-lot home delivers a rare combination of unbeatable location, resort-caliber finishes, and the kind of structural confidence that only comes from doing everything right. No HOA. No compromises. No list of things to fix.

The permitted 800 sq ft addition redefined what this home is from the inside out. Step into the open concept great room and the first thing you feel is the scale — vaulted ceilings soar overhead while a dramatic 12-foot glass patio door spans the back wall, dissolving the line between indoors and out and flooding the space with natural Arizona light. It is the kind of architectural move that photographs beautifully and lives even better, connecting the main living area directly to a low-maintenance artificial turf backyard designed for the Scottsdale lifestyle: outdoor dinners, weekend entertaining, and effortless upkeep.

The primary suite is in a category of its own. Oversized and completely private, it is anchored by a spa bathroom that feels more boutique hotel than residential — a walk-in wet room with floor-to-ceiling tile, a freestanding tub positioned to command the space, and elevated fixtures and finishes that make every evening feel intentional. A dedicated split-unit AC ensures this suite stays at precisely the temperature you want it, regardless of what the rest of the house is doing. What sets this property apart from every other remodeled home currently on the market in 85251 is what lives behind the walls.

Every major system has been replaced and permitted to current code: new roof, new HVAC, new plumbing, and new electrical throughout. This is not a surface renovation dressed up with new countertops. This is a home that was rebuilt correctly, with licensed contractors, pulled permits, and documented inspections.

You are buying certainty. The practical details are equally considered. The garage is wired with a dedicated EV charging circuit, ready for your electric vehicle today without any additional cost or installation. The oversized RV gate on this corner lot provides the kind of rare, flexible vehicle access that buyers in this zip code know almost never exists at this price point. And with no HOA, no monthly dues, no approval letters, and no restriction committees, you own this property on your own terms. One mile from the restaurants, galleries, nightlife, and energy of Old Town Scottsdale. Walking distance to Chaparral Park for morning runs and weekend afternoons. A home rebuilt from the foundation up with everything new, everything permitted, and everything done right.
